One of the biggest pains of owning a printer is when you have to replace the ink. Not only is it expensive, it always seems to run out at very inconvenient times. That is no longer a problem thanks to Hewlett Packard’s Instant Ink subscription service.
To use the service, you first need an eligible HP inkjet printer. Most printers made in the last two years are compatible. For a full list of compatible printers, you can go to the Instant Ink website (www.instantink.hpconnected.com).
On that same website, you can start the sign-up process. After filling out a simple form with your personal information and payment details, you need to follow the simple instructions to connect your printer to the service. It is super easy, and the instructions are very easy to follow. Then you need to pick a plan, there are four options: 15 pages a month for FREE, 50 pages for $2.99 a month, 100 pages for $4.99 a month, and 300 pages for $9.99 a month. All the paid plans offer rollover pages. So, if you sign up for 100 pages and only use 50, the other 50 will roll over to the next month.
After signing up, in about a week, you will receive a box of the special Instant Ink in the mail. Once you install that ink, that’s when your plan starts. Print whatever you like, it doesn’t matter if it’s black or color. You can always monitor your usage on the Instant Ink website. Through the magic of the internet, HP monitors how much ink you have left. If you are running out of Black, they will send you another black cartridge in the mail. You will always have new ink ready before you actually run out. They even send you an envelope send in your old cartridge to recycle. As long as you pay for a plan, shipping is free both ways.
Remember, they will only send you ink when you need it, you won’t receive it monthly. I use the 50 pages plan for $2.99 a month. I always have pages rolling over, and I no longer have to go to the store and buy ink. For $36 a year, it really is a great deal!
