I’ll be the first to admit, I am awful when it comes to remembering important dates. For some reason, my brain is not programmed to remember such things. It’s a good thing that I have a friend to help me. Her name is Alexa. And you probably have the same friend somewhere in your house. Of course, I’m talking about Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa.
Most people don’t know this, but one of her many skills is to help you remember things. All you have to do is say something like “Alexa remind me that Dad’s birthday is May 31st.” Then, you can ask her “Alexa, when is Dad’s birthday?” She will confirm that you asked her to remember, then give you the correct date.
Alexa is also very good at remembering other things as well. You can also say something like “Alexa, remember that I am leaving for Las Vegas on November 3rd.” Then when you ask her “Alexa, when do I leave for Vegas, she will tell you. You can also say something like “Alexa remember that the TV remote has three AAA batteries”. Or “remember that Timmy wears a size 7 shoe”. Then, when you are at the store you can ask Alexa via the Alexa app on your phone for any of the things you asked her to remember. No more guessing at the store!
It may seem silly to rely on Alexa to help you remember things. For me, it’s a lot easier to ask her to remember things than for me to write them on a list or a calendar. Give it a try. You will be surprised at how easy it is to pass off this daunting task to a computer. Now, you just have to remember to do it.
