How many times in the last week have you had to click the beloved “forgot password” link at the login screen of your favorite webpage? Passwords are a way of life. They control our ability to access our most important information. That’s why it is important to keep all of your passwords in a safe place. And no, I’m not talking about that little notebook with crossed out passwords from years past that you keep on your desk. This week, I’m going to introduce you to a life-changing program called “Last Pass”.
“Last Pass” is a program that stores all of your precious passwords in an encrypted online vault. To access your vault, all you need to do is remember one “master password”. Here’s how it works: From your internet device, go to www.lastpass.com. Once there, create a new account. This is where you will have to create that very important “Master Password”. After creating your account, download the program to your computer or the app to your mobile device. Now, all you have to do is go to all of your favorite websites and log into them one more time. Once you log in, Last Pass will ask you if you if you want it to remember your password. All you have to do is click “save” and that’s it- you’re done. Last Pass will then automatically log you in the next time you visit any saved website. Once you save all your passwords, you can organize them into categories like “shopping”, “banking” or any other category you can think of.
I found the overall process very simple to do. Once I started saving my passwords, I couldn’t stop. I spent a whole afternoon creating my password vault. After you create your vault, you can then download the Last Pass app for your mobile device. Once you log into the app with your Master Password, all of your saved passwords are there waiting for you. I’ve been using Last Pass for a few years now and I use it every day. Did I forget to mention my favorite feature of Last Pass? It’s FREE! They do have a paid version that has additional features, you can read all about it on their website. Do yourself a favor, download Last Pass and never worry about forgetting another password.
